ABOUT THE SHOW
Hi, we’re Bethany Conley and Chris Olszewski, two singers from the synth-pop band Balloon Ride Fantasy, (recently voted “Best Electronic Band” by the Pittsburgh City Paper).
We launched Yinz World Podcast in 2022 as a way to explore the podcast medium and shine a spotlight on people we find interesting and inspiring. It’s a long-form interview show, with each episode featuring one guest. We interview a diverse group of people from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, who have a Pittsburgh connection (or 6 degrees of Troy Polamalu). This podcast is based in Pittsburgh, where instead of "you all" or "y'all," people say "yinz." Our guests will include musicians, writers, academics, physicians, scientists, athletes, artists, veterinarians, a pilot or two, hosts of shows, people from other countries, and anyone with a unique perspective to share.
This podcast is dedicated to our friend, Christian Engelbert, who served as our first guest on the show while he had terminal cancer; he sadly passed away a few months later. He loved comedy, so in his honor, we will try to keep things light and inappropriate, as he would want us to.
We love to laugh and we love to learn, so we invite yinz to join us as we earnestly strive to bring our guests' stories, knowledge, and wisdom to listeners near and far. It's yinz world, and we're just livin' in it!
Bethany Conley
Bethany holds a Master's degree in secondary English education from Duquesne University and a Bachelor's degree in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. Aside from music and podcasting, she manages an international healthcare firm. She considers the year she spent teaching in South Korea to be her unofficial certification in world cultures.
Chris Olszewski
Chris studied computer animation at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Liberal Arts at the Community College of Allegheny County. He also completed many years of YouTube University, of course. Chris has recorded and produced many songs in his home studio over the years, for his own projects and for other artists as well.
